A few nuggets from the mountains of data on why you need video.
We already told you that the average user spends 88% more time on websites with video, thats great but now you want them on YOUR website! The question you have to ask yourself is this “Do you want more users, or need them on your site and in your store?” If you don’t need them this article might not be for you. If you do need and want them then keep reading. After all of our years doing this I want you to succeed and the why is important, it wont be easy to turn your “Titanic” if your not motivated to do so. Changing directions after years is not an easy task to motivate you or your team into accepting or tackling with gusto.
Let’s look at some of the reasons why you need video. 35% … thats the percentage increase of someone purchasing something after watching a video. Or 80%, thats the percentage number of conversion increases from adding video to a home page. Tell me that isn’t enough to make you want to grab your old cam corder! These are just a couple of valuable stats as proof (and should be incentive) to the fact that, if you are not visible you get no opportunity. “That’s a fact Jack.” 35% ... thats the percentage increase of someone purchasing something after watching a video Click To Tweet Tell me that isn't enough to make you want to grab your old cam corder! The search engines we all know and trust have already made videos a part of their search formulas and that trend is only promised to increase. It started a couple of years ago and the longer you avoid this fact, the farther down the preferred search lists you fall. Google, Facebook, YouTube and every other platform loves video because it appeals to more mobile viewers. The viewers love video because it explains everything they need to know in-depth and engages even the most time frustrated viewers. It’s really quite simple, it is an all around better user experience. Video connects sights and sounds to the hearts and minds of the target market. Customers want to FEEL good about their buying experience and their entertainment influences them to buy or not to buy. Guess what that means if you are not using video in your marketing strategy.
With such a rapid shift from Desktops and Laptop computers to mobile devices the ease and comfort of accessing information has become mobile preferable. Let’s face it, it’s a lot easier to watch a video than to read something like this long drawn out blog post. (Yes I will be making a video of this post!) We are in an era where we work longer, we’re in a more hurried time sensitive world. When the information we need is in a video format it’s just a lot easier to digest isn’t it? In video format there are no boundaries to where, when or how we can get the information we need, and interact with it on demand. No matter what you need to know, there is a video for it. So Google, Bing, Yahoo and everyone else who controls how and when you get found rewards you for using video over websites that do not use video. So lets face it, it doesn’t have to be a hollywood blockbuster but you need it. Its like pie, even a not so great pie is still better than no pie right? I may love to write, but its video that puts “food on the table” so to speak, that statement is holding true for most of you in business now too! I tell you from the bottom of my heart, you need to use video. Video sells and not just for experts like us, It’s as efficient to create as it is to consume!
